When I teach people about computers I always suggest they start by learning Microsoft Word.  My free computer training website www.teachanolddognewtricks.com offers more than 70 hours of free computer training in a wide variety of subjects.

Free Microsoft Word TrainingWhen I teach people Microsoft Word I use it as a tool to teach them about the fundamentals of working on a computer. I don’t jump up and down and say “hey this is a fundamental,” I just let the information flow naturally and as they gain more experience working on a computer and with Microsoft Word, they will start to recognize that the things they learned in my Microsoft Word training will carry over into many other things they do on the computer.

Microsoft Word 2007, 2010 and 2013 Training

Microsoft Word 2003

I started teaching people about Microsoft Word with version 2003. When Microsoft Word 2007 was introduced it brought us the Ribbon. The Microsoft Ribbon replaced the toolbars that we had grown accustomed to in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. I often refer to Microsoft office 2007 as the new office. When Microsoft office 2010 in 2013 were introduced they offered some unique features but looked virtually the same as office 2007. Regardless of which version of new Microsoft Office you learn, meaning office 2007, 2010 or 2013, you will easily be able to navigate through any version whatsoever.

Having said that, if you still need Microsoft Office 2003 training is available as well.
